How a perfect college basketball season works

Every round spins up one program era — a school and a window of years — and lays out that roster with real season statistics on every card. You fill a starting five: a point guard, a two, a wing, a four and a center. Then the season plays out game by game, your five’s era-fair ratings driving the scoreboard, until you drop one. Run the whole slate, the conference tournament and six games in the bracket and you have built an undefeated all-time team at 40-0.

Do college basketball teams actually go undefeated?

Yes, but not for a long time. Seven teams have won the national title unbeaten, and Indiana’s 32-0 in 1976 was the last. Kentucky reached 38-0 in 2015 and UNLV 34-0 in 1991, and both lost in the Final Four. The modern calendar is longer than any of them played, which is why nobody has ever finished 40-0 — and why it is the bar this game sets.

Questions people actually ask

Has a college basketball team ever gone undefeated?

Yes, but not for a long time. Seven teams have won the national title unbeaten, and Indiana’s 32-0 in 1976 was the last. Kentucky reached 38-0 in 2015 and UNLV 34-0 in 1991, and both lost in the Final Four.

Has any team gone 40-0 in college basketball?

No team has. The schedule that would make it possible — a full slate, a conference tournament, then six wins for the title — did not exist in 1976, when Indiana went perfect in 32 games. 40-0 is the modern perfect season nobody has finished.

How do I build an undefeated college basketball team?

Each round spins one program era — a school and a window of years — and lays out that roster with real season statistics on every card. You draft a starting five. One weak seat and a loaded five drops games it should win.

Is there a college basketball undefeated season game?

This is one. It plays in the browser, free: draft an all-time five, then the season simulates game by game until you lose one or cut down the nets at 40-0.

Which players and years can I draft?

Two decades of college stars, from the one-and-dones to the four-year legends, every player-season rated on how good it actually was against its own year. Each program is identified by its place and years, which fixes the eligible roster era for the spin.
